RV News and Stories Mark,

We are so new to this area that we really don’t have any idea how to go about even getting started.

In about 2 years, I will be retiring, and our tentative plans are to purchase “something” either a 5th wheel, possible good used Class A or something like this.

Our intent is to probably live in it for about 6 month at a time.

Now, here is the little catch,,,,,,,, We are life long motorcycle riders, and have toured the United States on the back of our Harley Davidson (s).

With this in mind, our Harley Trike “will” be with us at all times when we are “on the road”

I guess what we are looking for is some good advice moving forward toward our goal.

Most of the 6 month on the road will be in Florida or Louisiana during the winter months. We are life long residents of Pennsylvania.

Thanks much for your professional response and thoughts.

It's good to hear that you are interested in the RV lifestyle. You have several options available to you where you can enjoy the RV and your Harley. If you purchase a used motorhome it is fairly easy to trailer the Harley behind the motorhome. And, as you are aware there are many different Toy Haulers available. Because of their recent popularity they are manufacturing Toy Haulers in travel trailers, fifth wheel trailers and motorhomes.

It really depends on several factors. With a travel trailer or fifth wheel there is the added expense of a tow vehicle, capable of towing the trailer with the Harley. By the time you invest in this it is similar in cost to buying a motorhome. How you will use the RV also factors into the decision. You mentioned living in it for months at a time. Constantly hitching and unhitching a trailer can get old after awhile, but if you are in one place for several weeks or months at a time it's no big deal. I prefer a motorhome because of having access to all of the amenities while on the road. And I wouldn't have anything that doesn't have a generator. To think all I did was tent camp for years and now I must have a generator. Signs of aging I guess.

My How to Buy an RV e-book would be helpful to you.
